Are you eligible to claim FTB during the period 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008?

Takes 10 to 25 minutes to complete
To be eligible to claim FTB you must:
  • be an Australian resident and reside in Australia for family assistance purposes, or the holder of certain temporary visas or a special category visa for the purposes of FTB
  • not reside outside Australia for longer than 3 years (since 1 July 2004)
  • provide care to a dependent child – see below, and
  • care for the child for a minimum of 10% of the assessment period, if you shared the care of a dependent child with another person who is not your current spouse. For example, if you share the care over the full income year you must have cared for the child for at least 37 nights of that income year.
Did YOU satisfy the eligibility criteria? Yes No
The dependent child must:
  • be in your care and you must be responsible (whether alone or jointly with someone else) for the day-to-day care, welfare and development
  • be an Australian resident, hold a special category visa and reside in Australia, or be living with you
  • not be your partner
  • not reside outside Australia for longer than 3 years (since 1 July 2004)
  • be aged under 21 years or be a full-time student aged 21 to 24 years, and
  • have an adjusted taxable income (ATI) no greater than the income limit in the table shown below.
The child is not a dependent child if they—or someone on their behalf—receive an income support payment.  If the child is aged 16 or older, in addition to the above they cannot receive payments under a prescribed educational scheme or have an ATI greater than the ATI limit in the table below.
